Philadelphia, PA – September 23, 2019 – The Curbsiders is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Avital O’Glasser as Chief of Perioperative Medicine at Kashlak Memorial Hospital.
In her role as Chief of Perioperative Medicine, Dr. O’Glasser will help The Curbsiders distill, examine and apply clinical evidence to improve surgical outcomes. More specifically, Dr. O’Glasser will help us develop a practical approach to perioperative risk stratification and medication management and to keep up with changes in perioperative practice.
Dr. O’Glasser received her AB in Biology at the University of Chicago, where she discovered her passion for the practice of medicine. She then attended Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, earning her MD degree in 2007. She made the transcontinental trek to Portland, OR, for her internal medicine residency at OHSU, and she has excitedly been an enthusiastic citizen of the Pacific Northwest ever since. Upon graduating from residency in 2010, she joined the teaching faculty within OHSU’s Division of Hospital Medicine, where she joined the Pre-Operative Medicine Clinic her first year on faculty. She has continued to supervise residents and care for patients on the inpatient Medicine Teaching Service, plus in 2019 she became the Medical Director of the Pre-Operative Medicine Clinic. Her clinical and research interests include perioperative medicine, quality improvement, social media/digital scholarship, and resident/student scholarship.
“Bringing Dr. O’Glasser on board was a no brainer,” said co-founder Matthew Watto, MD. “ Dr. O’Glasser’s passion, knowledge and experience in perioperative medicine along with her dedication to digital scholarship make her a perfect fit at Kashlak Memorial Hospital. We are thrilled to have Dr. O’Glasser on the team and look forward to applying her expansive skillset to our own practice of perioperative medicine.”
